Bluefrog has just released an extensive piece of qualitative
research into why donors lapse - The Fundraiser's Guide to Lapsers. The project was made possible through the help of eleven
major UK charities who very kindly give us permission to approach existing and
lapsed supporters.
Thanks also go to Professor Adrian Sargeant, who kindly wrote the foreword.
Three months of fieldwork including twelve workshops and hundreds of in depth telephone interviews has resulted in a rich qualitative picture of why people stop giving, how they feel about cancelling support and the role the charity and its fundraising team may have played in the process. The key message coming through is the need to place the focus very firmly on the donor and meeting their needs.
